In the Philippines, October 5 is declared as the National Teachers’ Day in line with UNESCO’s declaration of this date as World Teachers’ Day.
This day reminds us of the importance of teachers in our society and the crucial role they perform to shape each individual. Usually, celebrations full of gratitude and appreciation are conducted in different schools in the Philippines before, during, or after October 5.
Last October 2, Global Peace Women with IWC Central Pasig, IWC Central Greenhills and eight more clubs from IWCPI District 380 celebrated National Teacher’s Day at Looc Elementary School and Bernardo F San Juan National High School.
This event was truly remarkable for the teachers as they received food, gifts, and tokens. There were games and raffles too. Additionally, the LGU of Cardona, Rizal sponsored free massage, manicure and pedicure. Lastly, students, headed by their council, prepared lots of surprises for their teachers.
A total of 118 teaching and non-teaching personnel from the two public schools participated in the celebration.
We need to show our gratitude and appreciation to our teachers even though it is not teachers’ day to recognize the efforts they make as they teach their students new lessons that will help them grow as a person in this world.
