WOMEN SUMMIT 2019: #BalanceforBetter
“Better the Balance, Better the World”
Women Summit 2019 is an event in celebration of International Women’s Day 2019 which is a global day celebrating the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women. The day also marks a call to action for moving towards gender parity.
This event was held at Grand Theater of University of Makati in Makati City, Philippines on March 8, 2019 at 1:00 PM to 5:30 PM and was attended by more than 1,000 women leaders and advocates, representatives from women organizations, representatives from local government units, and students.
According to Dr. Soonok Kang, Secretary General of the Global Peace Women International, a division of Global Peace Foundation working on women-led initiatives, ‘empowerment of women should contribute to a greater goal that goes beyond just women.’ “This year’s theme, ‘Better the Balance, better the world’ is also urging us of the importance of striving for a higher goal; that a gender balanced world also seeks to create a better, harmonious world of peace and prosperity as the ultimate goal,” she emphasized.
The summit, co-organized by Global Peace Foundation Philippines, Inner Wheel Clubs of the Philippines, and University of Makati, is a celebration to help forge women’s equality and motivate and unite friends, colleagues, and communities to think, act, and be gender inclusive. Women Summit 2019
is a gathering of individuals or groups who celebrate women’s peacebuilding, health, education, environment and socio-economic achievements, and create a platform for collective action and shared responsibility in driving a gender-balanced world.
