Global Peace Volunteers Camp Zamboanga Peninsula

Global Peace Foundation and the Department of Education Region IX jointly organized the Global Peace Volunteers Camp in Zamboanga Peninsula on April 10 – 12 at Manuel’s Resort, Pinan, Zamboanga del Norte.

The 2 day Regional Youth Leadership Training inculcate a culture of selflessness among youth for positive social change, a peaceful world and nurture virtues and positive character that foster an environment of acceptance and unity that transcends religion and race. The camp was also designed to empower teacher advisers to tackle community issues and kickstart solutions for select United Nations Sustainable Development Goals faced in their local community.

Jinsoo Kim, Regional President of GPF Asia Pacific, pointed out that the Global Peace Volunteers Camp aims to bring about moral and innovative leadership through engagement, building of leadership skills and exposure to real world experiences that inspire them to bring about positive impact.

The training underscored the importance of advancing “Moral and Innovative Leadership” in providing methods through which that vision can be realized by harnessing man’s natural creative need to advance the human condition and in promoting “greater good” that can benefit not only the individual but the larger society, nation and eventually the world.

According to GPF Philippines Education Director, Ann Marlita Montejo-Arevalo, when we have a “growth mindset,” we believe that our intelligence, creative abilities, and character are things that we can improve in meaningful ways. We can always learn and get better at what we do.

Mr. Aldrin Nituma, Executive Director of Global Peace Foundation Philippines expressed his deep appreciation to the Department of Education for its collaboration with the foundation to produce Filipinos who passionately love the country and whose values and competencies will enable them to realize their full potential and can contribute meaningfully to building the nation.
