Safe Spaces Campus Tour: Mindanao State University Marawi Campus

On February 14, 300 students and youth leaders from different colleges of Mindanao State University-Marawi Campus and representatives of various youth organizations in Lanao del Sur participated in the 2020 Safe Spaces Campus Tour.

The program was made possible through the partnership with
the Institute of Peace and Development in Mindanao and in coordination with Bangsamoro PeaceMovers.

In 2017, Marawi became a hotspot of 5-month long armed conflict in Lanao del Sur. The experience affected thousands of young people who were exposed to violence and chaos.

The 2020 Safe Spaces Campus Tour was launched by Global Peace Foundation in partnership with Consuelo Zobel Alger Foundation to promote youth’s role in advancing safe and supportive environments.

Students from selected schools in Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao are invited to submit innovative solutions to promote safe schools, safe homes, safe workspaces, safe communities, and safe conversations.

The 2020 Search for Youth Innovation in Promoting Safe Spaces (PHP500,000 Grant Competition), an output of the 2020 Campus Tours, will invite students from the 20 selected institutions to design innovative solutions in reducing and preventing all forms of violence and abuse in schools, communities, workplace, and virtual space.
