2020 Virtual Global Peace Volunteers Camp

The first, second and third series of Global Peace Volunteers Camp was held last August 1, September 5 and October 3 via Zoom with 56 selected participants from Philippines, Cambodia, and Myanmar. In response to the disruption due to Covid19 pandemic, GPV Camp 2020 shifted to virtual, being held via zoom, and divided into 3 series and a culminating activity. As the first virtual leadership camp organized by GPF Philippines and supported by Consuelo Foundation, the Global Peace Volunteer camp aims to create a learning environment for the local and international participants to develop and practice their skills to explore, discuss, and engage for leadership and personal growth.

Through the presentations, discussions, and activities facilitated by representatives from GPF Philippines and Consuelo Foundation, the “campers” discover their strength, passion, and purpose to fuel for their life-long journey ahead. They also learn that leadership is about building relationships and advancing the ability to connect, build trust, and empathize which are needed for a better society.

One of the participants shared:

” We can promote peace and safe spaces in our community if we respect each other and acknowledge our unique contribution and move forward quickly in a positive environment where we can all be teachers and learners. Also, we can promote peace and safe spaces in our community by being a great leader, being a good example or role model, and showing kindness and empathy.”
