Launching of the 1st Alllights Village in the Visayas

Finally, the 1st Alllights Village in the Visayas Islands -- Alllights Village Buenavista, located in Palompon, Leyte -- was inaugurated today.

The local government officials of Palompon headed by Mayor Ramon Onate, DepED headed by Dr. John Kent Juanera, Global Peace Foundation officials headed by Jinsoo Kim (Asia-Pacific regional president), 22 international volunteers, and 19 student volunteers from Palompon Institute of Technology launched Alllights Village Buenavista with 200 household-beneficiaries. 2 solar street lights were also installed and an unveiling of the village's sign post.

The launching started with a courtesy call at the Mayor's office. Then GPF team and youth volunteers journeyed the 1-hour ride to Buenavista. Classroom reconstruction, painting of classroom furnitures, culture-games-leisure activities were held with the pupils, distribution of school supplies, and finally, 200 solar lanterns were individually awarded to 200 households.

Another far-flung coastal area, badly-hit by typhoon Yolanda, has been lit and has made further steps to recovery. Through the Alllights Village program, Brgy. Buenavista will move onward!
