Global Peace Foundation

Vision

All people, regardless of race, nationality, religion, or culture, are members of One Family under God.

Mission

The Global Peace Foundation promotes an innovative, values-based approach to peace-building, guided by the vision of One Family under God.

Goals

To engage and organize a global network of leaders who will develop community, national, and regional peace building models as the foundation of ethical and cohesive societies, motivated by the vision of One Family under God.

Principles and Values

The Global Peace Foundation, in its approach to peace building and the advancement of human prosperity, emphasizes the central importance of universal spiritual principles and shared moral values. It is human nature to seek meaning and value in our lives, reflecting innate spiritual and moral dimensions of human character. Efforts to resolve conflicts and further social harmony that do not address these dimensions are destined to fail. Universal principles leading to consensus on values are the necessary basis for social harmony and community cooperation.

One Family under God

The vision of One Family under God encapsulates certain core principles and the values that flow from them.

One Family: As human beings we share a common origin and common human heritage. As a consequence, we also share responsibility for all humanity. The alternative to realizing the vision of one global family is a world divided by the clash of civilizations and endless tribal conflicts.

Under God: Our shared humanity is rooted in a transcendent, universal, source of value that gives rise to universal principles and values recognized by all the great faith traditions and people of good conscience.

Among these principles are that:

  1. All people have intrinsic value and dignity and therefore deserve respect.

  2. In the words of the U.S. Declaration of Independence, “all men are created equal … [and] are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights.”

Spheres of Action

The Global Peace Foundation supports projects and programs in countries all around the world. These activities are conceived as ‘models’ designed to give substance to the ideal of One Family under God in specific social and geographical areas.

The Foundation is especially active in three broad areas relating to the formation, nurturing, dissemination, and practice of key moral values. These are: cooperation among faiths; strengthening families and communities; and promoting a culture of service.

Cooperation among Faiths

Faith traditions are still the source of meaning and value in life as well as standards of ethical behavior for most of the world’s peoples. Their influence stretches across the boundaries of nation-states. The Global Peace Foundation believes that the power of people of faith is essential to creating a just and peaceful world. The Foundation promotes cooperation among faiths to step beyond traditional boundaries, identify principles and values held in common, and collaborate in the shared responsibility to promote ethical societies based on those principles and values.

Strengthening Families and Communities

Values are principles in action and they are imparted to the next generation within families. The family is the “school of love and virtue” in which the character and heart of each individual is formed at the deepest level. Future citizens with clear ethical values and an active sense of social responsibility are nurtured within strong families and vibrant communities.

Promoting a Culture of Service

Service puts the values formed in family and community into practice in the wider society. It is a catalyst for personal transformation, fostering young leaders of character who can become agents of social transformation. Service in other countries and cultures develops awareness of and a sense of responsibility for the wider society and world, forming bonds of heart that transcend historic differences.
