Thousands join coastal clean-up in the Philippines

to promote better ocean health

Some 7000 students and volunteers from 15 colleges and universities in National Capital Region joined a massive coastal clean-up drive along Manila Bay to promote better ocean health and environmental consciousness.

Aside from removing trash, information on the debris collected are also recorded. These information will be submitted to government offices, corporations, and communities as a guide for better waste management policies and developing smart packaging designs, while stirring environmental protection awareness among the people especially those inhabiting nearby bodies of water.

The clean-up drive was co-organized by Global Peace Foundation Philippines, Philippine Society of NSTP Educators and Implementers, and the City of Manila in partnership with Philippine Coastguard to advance clean and peaceful communities through youth volunteerism.
