160 Kindergartners and Grade 1 pupils (representing the Kindergarten, Grade 1 and Grade 2 pupils), several teachers, and school head Dr. Romeo Olalo, participated in the Awarding of 2,000 Pencils donated by SM Cares through its partnership with Global Peace Foundation Philippines. KJCMES is one of GPF Philippines’ demonstration schools in the implementation of Character & Creativity Initiative.
These pencils are part of the 1Million Lapis campaign of SM Cares for public schools in the country. The project was spearheaded by the Council for the Welfare of Children, Department of Education, Department of Social Welfare and Development, and SM Cares (the corporate social responsibility arm of SM Supermalls).
The pupils enthusiastically waved flaglets of “Welcome” and “Thank You” as they marched toward the assembly area. Grade 1 girls presented a dance and a mother-and-son’s (Xhzin Danrinque and Cindy Dayag)
duet infectiously got everyone singing.
These little ones are excited and joyful in the thought of receiving pencils that will aid them in their learning and also serve as instruments of their creativity.
